we opted to leave out the extra version number '001, 002 etc" on the record
identifier. When you upgrade SAP you could
potentially get a new version number for a segment on your IDOC thus giving
you the translation error.

Idoc segment record - E2EDK01005 ---> E2EDK01 (this is what we use on our
workbench)

The version number is 3 bytes not just an extra '0'

  Hi,

I am also working on inovis..

Actaully this type of error occur when u r trying to translate IDOC.

In IDOC some segment may not be in correct format u need to check the
  format of IDOC.

For example, E2EDKP01 is the correct segment, but you receive E2EDKP001
i.e. one extra '0'. In such cases this error comes.

If this solve ur error its good, if not, also check ur settings specially
in Application list (Outbound Layout) make sure that Header ID, External
cross refence, Document Constant exactly matches the IDOC position.

This is the scenario i know when this type of error comes. Please let me
  know if that helped you.

  Cheers,
  Rizwan

I'm having some difficulties fixing a mapping error. I'm on a
contract at an SAP/TLE shop and we're generating outbound X12
documents for the first time.

I keep getting the error listed below:
Any idea what this error is?

TLE seems to be telling me it's encountering a problem identifying
the direction of the document. See above where it states: DIR: C0'
I've tried a zilliion things to resolve the error, all to no avail.
It's trying to read the direction from an EDI_DC40 record. The
direction in the EDI_DC40 record is in position 36, and named
EDI_DC_DIRECT_Direction.

Any ideas as to what my issue is?

Thanks

Chuck
