Hello EDI Group,
I am new to Gentran Server 5.1 and have been recently made the
administrator. I have worked with EDI for the last two years, but
all of my experience is from using a product from TIE commerce.
I was presented with a big challenge from one of our trading partners
who sends EDI in a distribution list format. They have several
hundred stores, and when they perform a roll-out they send a single
PO for all of the items and stores at once. In example they sent a
test document that was 25 MB in size and had 11 items per store at
approximately 250 stores. The Ship-to addresses are being sent at
the item level detail so each item has the ship-to address included.
Currently Gentran maps everything into a single output by store. I
would like to have Gentran split the output into 250 separate POs,
one for each store. This will give us the ability to load into our
Optio document management software. Has anyone had a similar
situation where they were able to accomplish this or something
similar within Gentran?
The alternative that we have thought of, would be to use a separate
script to read the Gentran output file and perform this task, but I
was first wondering if this could be done using Gentran's
functionality.
Thank you,
Brian Lambertz
