I am interested in insight from the EDI community regarding Scan Based
Trading relationships.
We have such programs established presently with a number of
suppliers...but what we lack is vision into inventory, and thus,
related service levels. With the trading partner owning the inventory,
we have to reflect on hands as zero on the books internally.
So unless you're at the physical retail location, you wouldn't know if
the shelves are full or empty. Obviously it's to the suppliers benefit
to keep them full. But how do we measure that systematically without
breaking any accounting and/or other rules?
Today, the only document traded is the 852...and then the supplier
fills accordingly, or so we have to assume. So how do we carry
inventory without carrying inventory?
Thanks,
James
