Sure they do, you just don't have the right contacts.

I used to have contacts that would not only be able to discuss documents and
segments, but explain the business process behind why they are doing what they
do. I've even been offered tours of DCs to witness JC Penneys' "Bomb Bay"
system in action.

Also, it was my experience that although thjey may change their requirements
frequently (sonetimes becuase of buy outs and ownership change) that they
always notified me far in advance of making the changes.

I've been to Detroit, at K-Marts Corporate. I was quite impressed with the
changes they were making, and the sophisitication of their systems. It's no
wonder they bought Sears...

I've said this before too. Sometimes, your client does NOT want to issue
chargebacks. It's a myth that these are a profit center. I used to talk at
length with JCP, and their logistics people would tell me that their goal was
for the goods to hit the dock on time, without a problem, properly labled, and
get routed to where it's going. If they have to re-lable, re-route, manually
create an ASN etc, it slows down the process and costs them money, which they
pass on to the vendor.

A stand offish, "they don't know what they're doing and only want to take money
from me for no apparent reason" attitude will not make your company more money.
Quite the opposite, find out who knows what and talk to them, form a
partnership with them.

My 2C.

I saw a few posts about talking to the trading partner. On our side the vendor,
our retailers are sub standard as far as communicating. They just do things
without telling us. It is a disaster. I don't know what the solution is. The
retailers we sell to, Walmart, Kmart, Target, etc. do NOT respond. The customer
service is overseas and we cannot contact them.

They don't care because they just pile on chargebacks.

Thank you,
Adam West
