This hands-on senior GIS development position will have extensive experience as
a professional and approachable leader with a strong background in application
development, support, and administration. This position represents an employee
who is both deep and broad in their technical expertise with complimentary
management skills to take on issues, research root cause, and push toward
timely
resolution. This person must have a proven ability to triage and resolve
application admin, access, functional, data and technical integration issues.
Must be able to establish and maintain standards and procedures leading to
optimized configuration management, release management, and quality assurance.
eTailDirect is a start up direct-to-consumer retail organization with very
aggressive growth plans. The nature of the business requires high performance
customer facing technologies such as web and customer contact center platforms.
Because of its start up nature, initially and for some time the eTailDirect
will
subsist with a skeleton of highly effective technologists leveraging external
service relationships for the majority of the technology development and
support
needs of the business.
As a result, this individual must be very hands on as well as very versed in
the
management or external services providers, through Service Level Agreements and
service partnerships, in order to ensure that the eTailDirect technology
infrastructure is functioning, is reliable, is available, and it evolves and
matures with the needs of this high growth organization.
Requirements:
Essential Functions:
* Lead design, development and trouble-shooting efforts across GIS
applications
to ensure stable operations.
* Forecast and plan for supporting application functionality in support
of
business requirements in a rapidly growing, changing, and complex environment.
* Protects and ensures the stability of operation systems through
rigorous
implementation of system administration, data integrity, quality assurance, and
system administration functions.
* Coordinate and prioritize all escalated activities, including
testing,
implementation of system upgrades/patches, enhancements, and bug fixes.
* Maintain frequent interaction for the business and legacy system
owners to
integrate knowledge of business and functional priorities.
* Experience authoring proposal’s/SOW’s for required professional
services and
hosted technical services.
* Evaluate application technologies and tools to remain current with
industry
trends and practices and make recommendations for application within the
enterprise.
* Collaborate with eCommerce stakeholders to ensure the data
integration
architecture is aligned with business requirements and technical needs.
* Leads efforts to resolve technical integration issues between
multiple ASP’s
and packaged application software products across a partially hosted/
distributed environment.
* Establish and execute strategies and plans for on-going support and
development of the eTailDirect technology infrastructure in line with the
growing and changing needs of the business.
* Flexible in schedule to cover 24X7 operational support.
Functional/Technical:
* Experience with distributed internet based technology platforms.
* Experience building applications using the following technologies is
highly
desired: Oracle 10G RAC in a Linux environment (Red Hat Linux 4.0 AS), IBM
Websphere MQ, IBM Websphere Application Server, JBOSS, shell scripting, Ant
scripting/Cruise Control and Gentran Integration Suite.
* Experience working with GIS 4.2 or greater required; including but
not
limited to mapping, messaging standards (X12, EDIFACT, …), communication
protocols (FTP, HTTP, MQ, …), trading partner onboarding, business processes
(BPML), webservices (SOAP, WSDL), XML, XSLT.
* Strong ability to lead technical selection of technology, tools,
servers,
COTS products, and open-source tools/products to solve integration issues
highly
desired.
* Ability to utilize staff resources and vendors to coordinate defect
resolution, apply system patches, and test to maximize system up-time while
minimizing resource expenditure.
* Ensures DSW IT compliance and security policies are enforced via
system
administration, data compliance, and application release strategies.
* Perform root-cause analysis on all outages and system issues and
report in a
timely manner.
* Ensure all application related processes and procedures are
documented and
stored in an organized location so knowledge is easily transferred/shared.
* Ensure effective and efficient delivery of technical support to meet
or
exceed SLA’s.
* Experienced in application administration, data analysis and systems
analysis
required.
* Strong knowledge of relational database design and support.
* Experience with compliance requirements relating to customer data,
including
PCI standards, and Internal IT compliance and Risk Management Practices a plus
* Experience with content control software (Subversion, ClearCase, and
CVS.).
* Experience with HP Load Runner a plus.
Qualifications:
* Bachelors Degree in technology and a minimum of 6-8 years of
developing and
administering applications.
* Experience in collaborating with multiple teams of highly skilled
technologists.
* Java Application Development Certification a plus.
* Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
* Knowledge and understanding of retail industry a plus.
* Ability to integrate in a rapidly changing environment.
* Excellent planning skills and a proactive approach.
* Excellent follow-up skills and ability to meet aggressive deadlines.
