I sure hope no one is doing anything like this, especially at that volume. Getting any status other than "open" (once), "hold/release from hold" (once per event) and "shipped (or picked)" once should be plenty of info. Personally, I think you should look at asking your vendor for 855 Acknowledgement - once, when order is received and accepted or rejected 856 ASN - once, when order is shipped 870- once each time an order changes status after initial acceptance *and such change in status is material to you* .. eg "hold" or "released from hold" (Your 856 tells you the status has changed from "open" to "shipped") Repeating the same information 'several times throughout the day" for the same order is.. is... what's that word I'm looking for.....oh, yes, "silly." Not that it couldn't be done, it's just that it serves no purpose. At your volume all you should care about are "exceptions" to the normal process of "accepted and open, shipped" Michael C.
