Hello Kathir,

within a EDIFACT Message of a specific type (for example COPARN aka Container
Announcement) the BGM Segment specifies the specific type and function of the
document. (This is true acress the board, often related to the quality of the
announcement. For example if it is a planned forecast or a real business order.
And it also specifies if it is an change to a already transmitted document)

It depends on your partner if all messages inside your transmission may/must
have the same document type or not - it is typically best to expect mixed
content and have a split/merge step before processing the messages.
Understanding the COPARN messages seems to be more complicated than only the
BGM code (according to the PSA Guide they also care for the Equippment Detail
Group 7 - EQD). Each Message in a transmission will have their own BGM after
the UNH.

The first (sub)element after the BGM is C002.1001 which contains the coded
document name. Strange enough the message guides do actually refer to
qualifiers with other meanings:

Guideline:
12 = Gate out move
11 = Gate in move

UNCL:
10 Party information Document/message providing basic data concerning a party.
12 Mill certificate Certificate certifying a specific quality of agricultural
products.

The third one specifies the message function (1225 = 9 original, 4 change, 2
addition, 3 deletion).

No idea wha the UN Codelist is totally different from the codes used in the
guide, but it it generally a good idea to stick with the guide from your
partner or a industrie organisation. Who are you communicating with?

Hi,

I think BGM+.. is the qualifier which says what kind of message it is. Example,
standard may be EDI FACT D 95B but the message might be different, Coprar load
or discharge.

Is that correct ? Can we rely on the BGM qualifier to decide the type of the
message?

Moreover what will be the BGM qualifier when multiple message comes in a single
interchange?

Thanks,
Kathir.
