It really doesn't - don't get confused into thinking that just because 

it's a Sterling product that it has something to do with EDI. Many 

companies (such as the one I work for now) that have EDI offerings also 

have offerings in what is often referred to as "managed file transfer". 

That is a big business in and of itself.
