Job Title: EDI Communication Analyst 
Location: Overland Park, KS

EDI Application Analyst:
Responsible for analysis, design, and implementation of large cross-functional 
information system solutions. The EDI Application Analyst works in a team 
environment to support programs in production and systems development. The EDI 
Application Analyst will be involved with large departmental initiatives such 
as developing, implementing and maintaining the EDI architecture, development, 
implementation and maintenance of departmental metrics, and other projects as 
necessary.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
1. Works closely with customers and peers to understand the functions to be 
automated, objectives, desired features and input/output requirements. 
Determines estimates for time and cost of work as well as feasibility and 
compatibility with other systems. Designs and writes technical and program 
specifications. 
2. Analyzes, defines and documents program requirements for data, workflow, 
logical processes, hardware and operating system environment, interfaces with 
other systems, internal and external checks and controls, and outputs.
3. Programming on Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) requests from external 
customers. This includes gathering partner information such as location lists, 
specifications, trading partner profiles and billing requirements.
4. Support for the critical EDI translation software environment. 
5. Support of customer inquiries. Being able to respond quickly to the largest, 
most demanding customers is crucial for the Company’s ability to collect 
payment of services and to retain and grow the business. 
6. Providing support for the EDI technology environment to assure data flows to 
and from our external customers without interruption. 
7. Compliance reporting for partners. This includes researching shipments and 
tracing the events back to make sure the EDI transactions accurate and timely. 
8. Handling questions and issues from internal users and trading partners. This 
includes, but not limited to working with outside customers, terminals and 
customer service on pickups and working with the billing and collections group 
to make sure the correct reference numbers are being sent out on invoices.
9. Auditing and monitoring EDI processes including; reporting, monitoring 
application files and debugging translation errors.
10. Analyzes installs and tests upgrades application programs of levels of 
complexity. Provides rotational 24 x 7 on-call support.
12. Understands and applies company standards, methodologies, processes, and 
procedures. Participates in the development of standards, tools, methodologies, 
processes, and procedures across the organization.
13. Participate in departmental or cross-functional quality activities as 
needed to improve work process or improve customer-supplier relationships. May 
provide leadership in quality activities.
14. Assist more senior staff members to train and orient new team members in 
departmental functions or customers in system related functions.
15. Inform Manager or another assigned senior staff member of activity status 
and plans and actions that may affect customers and other staff member’s 
efforts.
16. May perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: No
Required Experience:
• 4 – 5 Years experience in business analysis and project management. 
Experience with business process development or modeling tools such as 
Microsoft Visio is essential. Experience with Microsoft Project is also 
required.
• 3 - 4 years programming experience in a mainframe or midrange platform 
environment. 
• 5 – 7 years of work experience in EDI.
• Experience or familiarity with the processes required for interchange of 
information with Customs offices (U.S. and Canadian). 
• Experience with or knowledge of communications tools such as Axway’s Gateway 
Interchange (Cyclone) used to prepare and or execute EDI transactions. 
Experience with communications protocols such as FTP, SFTP, AS2 or MQ.
• Experience with EDI translation tools such as Gentran or Gentran Integration 
Suite (GIS).
• Experience or understanding of EDI transportation transactions.
• Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite of tools and Microsoft Access. 
• Four-year college degree; or three to five years related experience and/or 
training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
This position is located in Overland Park, Kansas.

flows to and from our external customers without interruption.
