Well, for the original poster, in the absence of any specific error messages there are a few basic things to check:
Is the event inbound or outbound? Is it XML to or from a flat file, or is it XML to or from EDI? If it's outbound Flat File to XML, is the mailbox selected for Test must an XML mailbox? If it's XML to EDI, does the Test setup for Application Outbound Layout, etc., match the Production setup? Do you have a valid directory/file spec for the Test tab on the Application?
