Job Title: IT Specialist

Position Reports To (Title): Network engineering Manager
Job Summary: Responsible for the coordination, implementation, and maintenance 
of EDI functions and provides end user support for QAD and its accompanying 
applications.
Duties and requirements of the job:
1. Monitor the daily EDI functions to provide a smooth transition from customer 
data input to QAD MFG/PRO business system.
2. Administer the daily schedule to process the EDI transactions in accordance 
with business needs.
3. Perform maintenance to EDI modules, QAD MFG/PRO and external software, as 
dictated by customer/supplier changes.
4. Ability to support distribution, manufacturing and financial modules within 
QAD and have a general understanding on how they interact with each other.
5. Work with end users to improve QAD processes through programming updates and 
changes.
6. Creating and running reports with Progress or Cyberquery as needed.
7. Provide assistance and backup coverage to the Network Engineering Manager on 
the UNIX server and other IT systems.
8. Other duties as assigned.
Skills required performing the duties of the job:
1. Must have a Bachelor's degree in a computer-related filed preferred or 
equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. 3-5 years of related experience, including hands-on experience with QAD 
MFG/PRO ERP implementations and/or ongoing support.
3. Strong analytical capabilities with extensive experience implementing EDI 
systems using Gentran software in a manufacturing environment.
4. Be able to write specifications for new programs and then turn them into 
code using progress.
5. Understanding of Base MFG/PRO QAD ERP.
6. 5 years of QAD / Progress programming experience required.
7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ideal Candidate will also possess:
1. UNIX experience, preferably on an HP9000 using HPUX 11.0 or HPUX 11.i
2. Experience with Cyber Query, creating and running reports.
3. Ability to develop UNIX scripts is preferable.
4. Experience programming in Progress version 9 for QAD 8.5.
