If the current supplier can't keep the product moving the way I want, when I
want, I'm getting another supplier (850, 830, 940, whatever the grocery thing
is, etc.).  Again, I'm talking business process, not EDI, as this isn't an EDI
issue.

Maybe NOT.

A '940' is a document sent by the owner of merchandise which is warehoused in a
third-party facility. A '940' ain't an '850.' There
is no other "supplier."

This reminds me of all the problems folks had with healthcare EDI when they
thought a 'Claim (837)' was pretty much the same thing
as an 'invoice (810)' and a 'healthcare remittance advice (835)' was simply a
healthcare version of a '[commercial] remittance
advice (820)'.

Ya gots to understand your applications afore ya can implement them using EDI!
