    Convert to proportions and find the geometric mean:

        (1.00 x 1.172 x 1.231 x 1.187)^(1/4)  = 1.144, or 14.4% growth

    BTW: I'm a little suspicious of the exact 0 - it makes me wonder whether
1991 is "a year like the others".
