Numerical Recipes is old, obsolete and full of uncorrected errors. The
problems were well discussed among numerical analysts, and there was a web
page back in the early 90's devoted to the problems. Cambridge press never
bothered to fix the errors.

Search the web for the great quantity of FORTRAN subroutines in many
libraries that are available. One problem will be converting the Unix
compressed files to ASCII. Some have good programs in, some are bad, many
are simplifications of numerical methods, copied from textbook equations.
Most of the FORTRAN programs are so severely nested in subroutines, it is
hard to judge their quality.
