ICIP-2001, the eighth in the series that has been held annually since 1994, will bring together leading engineers and scientists in image processing from around the world. Research frontiers in the fields ranging from traditional image processing applications to evolving multimedia and video technologies are regularly advanced by results first reported in ICIP's technical sessions. SCOPE: 1.IMAGE/VIDEO CODING AND TRANSMISSION Still Image Coding, Video Coding, Model-Based Coding, Synthetic-Natural Hybrid Coding, Source/Channel Coding, Stereoscopic and 3D Coding, Coding Standards, Image and Video Networks, Error Resilience, Video Streaming. 2.IMAGE/VIDEO PROCESSING Linear Filtering and Enhancement, Non linear Filtering and Enhancement, Restoration, Multiframe Image Restoration, Segmentation, Wavelets and Multiresolution Processing, Morphological Processing, Color and Multispectral Processing, Stereoscopic and 3D Processing, Modeling, Analysis, Interpolation and Spatial Transformations, Motion Detection and Estimation, Image Sequence Processing, Noise Modeling, Architectures and Software, Neural, Adaptive, and Fuzzy Processing. 3.IMAGE FORMATION Acoustic Imaging, Radar Imaging, Tomographic Imaging, Nuclear and X-Ray Imaging, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Geophysical and Seismic Imaging, Radio Astronomy and Speckle Imaging, Optical Imaging, Synthetic-Natural Hybrid Image Systems. 4.IMAGE SCANNING, DISPLAY, AND PRINTING Scanning and Sampling, Quantization and Halftoning, Color Reproduction, Image Representation and Rendering, Display and Printing Systems, Image Quality Assessment. 5.IMAGE/VIDEO STORAGE, RETRIEVAL, AND MULTIMEDIA Image and Video Databases, Image Search and Sorting, Video Indexing and Editing, Integration of Image and Video with Other Media, Content-Based Multimedia, Multimedia applications, Authentication and Watermarking. 6.APPLICATIONS Application of image processing technology to any field, including the biomedical sciences, astronomy, geosciences, environment, humanities and document processing. SUBMISSION PROCEDURES Prospective authors are invited to propose papers for presentation in any of the technical areas listed above. To submit a proposal, prepare a paper summary following the instructions that can be found in the conference web site. The summary submission must be made electronically using the submission forms provided in the conference web site: http://icip01.ics.forth.gr Each selected paper (four-page limit) will be published in the Proceedings of ICIP-2001, using high-quality paper for good image reproduction. Presentations will be assigned to a lecture or poster session by the technical committee. Style files in LaTeX will be provided for the convenience of the authors. Please consult the web site of the conference for further information. ICIP 2001 SCHEDULE: Paper proposals due: 15 January 2001 Notification of Acceptance: 2 April 2001 Camera-Ready papers due: 15 May 2001 _______________________________________________________________________ Call for Proposals -- ICIP 2001 SPECIAL SESSIONS Prospective session chairs are invited to submit proposals for ICIP 2001 special sessions. Each proposal should contain the following paragraphs: 1. Session topic 2. Justification(why this topic is of importance, why for ICIP audience) 3. Session plan(format, length of each presentation, number of authors, subtopics) 4. Tentative list of invited authors with their fields of expertize 5. Session chair's short bio The information should be sent via EMAIL to: Jelena Kovacevic, Special Sessions Chair [EMAIL PROTECTED] The important dates are as follows: September 15, 2000: Proposals due September 30, 2000: Notification of decision ______________________________________________________________________ Call for Proposals -- ICIP 2001 TUTORIALS ICIP 2001 is inviting experts working at the image processing research frontiers to submit proposals for half or entire day tutorials. The proposals should include: 1. A half to one page summary of the objectives, contents and justification (especially timeliness and interest to the ICIP community) of the tutorial. 2. A ten lines bio of the presenter(s). 3. An indication of the materials to be presented. Submission of a (partial) set of concept (power point or hard copy) sheets significantly contributes to compiling a high quality and balanced tutorial program. 4. A list of events where this or similar material was presented by the proposers. The information should be sent to: R. (Inald) LAGENDIJK, Tutorials Chair e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] fax: +31 15 278 1843 Important Dates: January 15, 2001 : Submission deadline for Tutorial Proposals February 15, 2001 : Decision on Tutorial Program. Proposers notified of decision August 7, 2001 : Decision on go/no-go (minimum number of registered tutorial participants is 15) September 7, 2001 : Submission of final tutorial materials October 7, 2001 : Tutorials at ICIP 2001.
