I obtained the following reply from Ms Robin Rice. She asked me to post it
for her since she was leaving for a data conference in the US.

The project is actually committed to adding online resources to its website,
we just haven't gotten to that yet. One thing we want to do is encourage the
use of UK National Academic data services such as The Data Archive
(www.data-archive.ac.uk) and MIMAS (www.mimas.ac.uk) to get data for
teaching. There are thousands of datasets freely available to UK academics,
not necessarily over the web though. (Equivalent in the U.S. to ICPSR to
member institutions, (www.icpsr.org) If people want Internet resources,
our Data Library has links of Internet sources including "downloadable data
by subject." Try it at http://datalib.ed.ac.uk/sources.html. There is also a
Resource Discovery Network funded by UK higher education with subject
gateways such as for the Social Sciences at http://www.sosig.ac.uk. Also,
the open forum may be used to request information from peers and suggest
favourite resources.
Cheers,
