You should consider "Fathom", which has a very visual approach to the
subject.

It is completely unlike any other package I have seen, reminding me more of
Dynamic Geometry packages rather than number-based statistics packages such
as SPSS, SAS etc.

I think Fathom is an aid to LEARNING statistics, not a software
package for DOING statistics -- at least not professionally.  It's
closest competitor might be ActivStats.  I'm not saying it is bad, and
it may be just what the original poster is looking for, but
it is certainly not competitive with SAS for, say, use in the
pharmaceutical industry.
