The department of mathematics at Central Michigan University is seeking for an Assistant Professor in statistics. The department has BS in statistics, Actuarial Science, MA in Mathematics and Ph.D. in Mathematics. Graduate students can choose a concentration in statistics for both master and Ph.D. We are currently developing an MS statistics program. Currently the department has five statisticians. We are looking one more to join the statistics group, and would like to invite any qualified candidate to submit the application.

Assistant Professor Tenure Track Position in Statistics


The Department of Mathematics invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in statistics beginning Fall 2001 or earlier. Applicants from all areas of statistics will be considered.

Candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. in statistics or a closely related field, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and demonstrate a strong commitment to excellent teaching and research. ABD candidates will be considered if degree completion is imminent.

Experience after the doctorate preferred. Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate the ability to contribute to the department's Ph.D. program. Duties include undergraduate and graduate teaching, research, submitting external funding proposals, and service.

The department offers bachelor's degrees in statistics, actuarial science, mathematics, and mathematics education, master's degrees in mathematics and mathematics education, and a Ph.D. in mathematics with a concentration in college teaching. Further information is available at
