But don't blame me! My greatest problem is convincing students that
'content' should at least briefly enter their brains on the way from the
WWW to their homework or thesis.

I have, as a reviewer, had to suggest rejection of a submitted
conference paper (from an editor of an international journal) that had
already appeared in a journal and on the web.
