In case you haven't yet filled in your summer conference schedule, please
consider the

Gordon Research Conference on Statistics in Chemistry and Chemical
Engineering
   July 27-August 1, 2003
   http://www.amstat.org/sections/spes/GRC2003.htm

This is one of the best meetings for what's up and coming in chemometrics
and industrial statistics: much of what you hear will eventually show up in
the pages of Technometrics and the Journal of Chemometrics and JQT. More
importantly, it's a great place to meet the folks who are *writing* those
papers: the conference format is specifically designed to encourage a lot of
off-line scientific interaction.

I've got an ulterior motive in bringing it to your attention. The conference
needs to attract a certain number of registrants in order to maintain its
standing with the organization that runs it, and it's still a few folks shy
of the required number. So if you were thinking about going some year, take
it from me that *this* is the year to do so, in order to ensure the
continued health of the meeting.

Take a look at the program on the web site given above, and let me know if
you've got any questions. Please feel free to pass on this advertisement to
anyone else you think may be interested.
