Hi, I'm using EViews for the first time and have limited statistical training. Basically, I've some sales data from a few years and I need to estimate the trend component using both first order polynomial and quadratic trend.
For the first order polynomial, I figure that it would mean Sales = B0 + B1*Time, while for the quadratic, Sales = B0 + B1*Time^2 Problem is when I try to enter the equation specification (to estimate regression model), I'm not sure how to do it. For the first order polynomial, I entered it as 'sales c time' and I received an error message for time as it's undefined. I've tried looking for an answer in the User Guide but failed to find any yet. Anyone able to help me out?
