EdStat community:
For those interested in discussions & questions
related to theoretical or applied statistics, I have started a Yahoo!
groups listed under "Colleges and Universities" as [EMAIL PROTECTED].
I would like to invite everyone who is interested
to go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/statistics_help/
and click on "join this group!"
The group is "members only" which means everyone
has to sign in with a valid yahoo! username/passwd, and your personal settings
can be set to "daily digest" so that you receive no more than one email per day
(with all daily emails consolidated into one long email). The yahoogroups also
provides the option for members to login to a "chat" area to
facilitate one-on-one discussions on specific topics (as practical or
impractical as it may be, at least we have the option). The list will be
unmoderated, but since everyone who posts is required to be a member, I suspect
that the posts will be professional, courteous, and of
high-quality.
I hope that this will free up the task of the
future ed-stat moderator to deal with *only* issues pertaining to statistics
education, as well as to provide a place for the rest of us to get our questions
answered. Also, I want to thank all those who have answered my questions in the
past, I don't know where else I could have gotten the information so readily and
so conveniently.
best,
