I'm coming in late, but there are a lot of good programs available for statistics.  
You don't need to be good at programming to use them.  If you can run a 
point-and-click interface you can run a statistics software package.

Depending on what you are trying to accomplish you may not need a big calculator 
either.  I use a TI36 for means and standard deviations/variances.
