-------- Original Message -------- Subject: Report -- University Sun Day at Xi'An Jiaotong University Date: Sun, 28 May 2006 00:47:28 +0800 From: Qingye Jiang (John) <[email protected]> Organization: Sun Microsystems, Inc To: sdn_china_roadshow at Sun.COM, Yousef.Yacoub at Sun.COM, Wang.Yu at Sun.COM, te-tech at Sun.COM Hi all, We ran out of everything -- T-Shirts, DVD's, books, dukes, and people still kept on coming! Today, at Xi'An Jiaotong University Science Building, a total number of 546 students and professors joined us at the event. Only half of them received our Solaris and Sun development tools DVD's. We promised to deliver another 300 set of DVD's to the university as soon as we return to Beijing. Professor Jianguo Deng, vice dean of the Department of Information and Communication Engineering, gave a welcome message. As the shows went on, many students jumped to the stage with dances and singings to celebrate Sun's presence at their campuse. Indeed, for those students who love Sun and Java so much, they had been waiting too long to see us! Today's event is our last show at Xi'An. In three days we had a total number of 4 events at the city with a total number of 1497 attendees, as below: 05.25, University Sun Day at Xi'An Institute of Technology (306) 05.26, Sun Developer Day at Xi'An (269) 05.26, University Sun Day at Xi'An University of Electronics Science and Technology (376) 05.27, University Sun Day at Xi'An Jiaotong University (546) I truely believe that all members of the SDN China road show team felt the passion of local developers through these events. They expressed their mixed feelings by saying "Sun, we love Java, we want to see more progress in NetBeans and Solaris, and we need you to stand by us by coming back again and again." As the leader of the road show team, I felt shameful for not being able to come to Xi'An at an earlier date, and the inability to offer more shows at this lovely city before returning to Beijing. I could only promise to come back in the near future, and I truely believed that we will -- no, we must, come back. Special thanks to all the people that supervise and support these shows, especially to -- Matt Thompson, our show business will never survive without his trust and support. -- Yousef Yacoub, James Bai and Wang Yu, for providing valuable advices and delivering outstanding presentations to the developers. -- Anderson Wong, for trusting and supporting the road show team. -- Samuel Lo, and Rita Zhang, for providing support and delivering presentations to the developers. -- Jason Tong, and Joey Guo, for providing support and delivering presentations to the developers. -- Joey Shen, Michael Li, Ada Li, and Ye Liang, for delivering excellent presentations to the developers. Below is the agenda for today's event: 13:00 -- 13:30 Registration 13:30 -- 14:30, Joey Guo Open Source, Open Standard, and OpenSolaris 14:30 -- 15:15, Joey Shen Java Now and Future 15:15 -- 15:25 Break 15:25 -- 16:00 Students dancing and singing 16:00 -- 16:40, Joey Shen / Michael Li Java Puzzle 16:40 -- 17:45 Ye Liang Introduction to NetBeans IDE and Code Camp 17:45 -- 18:00 Gift Distribution and Exit Best regards, -- ("`-''-/").___..--''"`-._ Qingye Jiang (John) `6_ 6 ) `-.
