there you got your problem, the client has no valid key for the server,
most likely the ip changed since you ran ltsp-build-client...
run ltsp-update-sshkeys on the server and it should work fine :)

Thanks Oliver! Yes, that worked. I can login successfully now. I'm
running Gnome from the thin client, and I can start a few programs.
