Everything you setup at the server is eventually roam to the client desktop. That's, if you configure a particular logo on user x login desktop, that is what the user will see at the client when he/she logs in. So, if u want to change the desktop to your school logo, use the logo as the desktop background when you log in at the server. If you use this as your default desktop, that is what everyone that logs in will see.

Matthew does have shell access to the server, we just need to give him admin access on the site. I'll co-ordinate this with him. > Any comments? > We need to get moving on working on an edubuntu flavour of Matt's new > Drupal template for Ubuntu. I talked to Matt about this last night, because I noticed that the progress has been moving a bit slow. He said that he wasn't aware that he needs to tweak the Ubuntu website theme for Edubuntu, so we came up with a plan last night, he sent me the Ubuntu theme for some initial customisation, and after that he will do some fine tuning. By next week this time we should be able to have a preview of some sorts, and will be able to receive comments and suggestions. If anyone is interested in the progress of the next theme and layout, please try to attend the IRC meeting next week Wednesday. -Jonathan ------------------------------ Message: 4 Date: Wed, 23 May 2007 21:50:12 +0200 From: Will van der Leij <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Re: hello To: Randy Coleman <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Cc: edubuntu-devel@lists.ubuntu.com Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 Randy Coleman wrote: > I am the Director of Technology in a K-6 district with 8 schools. We chatted to Ken Wimer about this at UDS as well (admittedly under a Kubuntu BoF) and a spec was born. I just cannot remember what it was called since it changed name and I can't find it. Was more to do with look 'n feel though but I thought I'd cc Ken in anyway. Great. I hope you will check the theme into a versioned repo (bzr?) so we can leverage Launchpad to track site/theme bugs (as done already for the ubuntu.com site?). >> By next week >> this time we should be able to have a preview of some sorts, and will be >> able to receive comments and suggestions. I'm travelling until Monday, but I'll definitely try to make it for the regular meeting on Wednesday. [snip] I'm really looking forward to the modified theme based on ubuntu.com. Besides that, I vote for doing a fresh install of Drupal 5.1 for edubuntu.org (rather than an "upgrade") and cleaning up the (little!) content that is currently on the site. Either Matt can do the installation, or me. In the latter case, I even promise to provide a clean documentation of the installation for Matt and Jonathan. :-) Best, Philipp -- :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::. Only server change in Thinclients the screen is > default Edubuntu. The server runs gdm. The thin clients run ldm, in the ltsp chroot. Therefore to change the login screen on the thin clients you need to modify ldm on the thin clients. There are several themes, all are in: /opt/ltsp/i386/usr/share/ldm/themes/ You should be able to make a copy of one and change it to suit yourself. Then change the symlink /opt/ltsp/i386/usr/share/ldm/themes/default to point to your modified one.
