Hi, I don't know how you understood this document but for me it just says that Ubuntu Edgy Eft (6.10)'s support is ending on Friday April 25th and that current users must upgrade to a newer release in order to get security updates. The 5 years support is for the LTS (Long Term Support) on servers (3 years on desktop). Edgy Eft (6.10) wasn't an LTS release and then had "only" 18 months support. The only LTS release to date is Dapper (6.06) and the next one will be Hardy Heron (8.04) which will be released on Thursday (24th).
