Hi I've synced my i386 DVD image and done some testing. Edubunt packages are part of the Live CD now and gets installed properly. I quickly ran through all the programs installed and they seem to run fine. Obviously a few minutes of testing isn't enough, but it seems that for the most part, things are working properly.
There's no usplash on startup, and some ugly error messages are visible, they are non-fatal though. What sticks out like a sore thumb is the need for artwork changes. I guess some people may forgive us if we warn them that we're basically starting from the beginning with this release. I took some screenshots, you can view them here: http://people.ubuntu.com/~jonathan/files/screenshots/edubuntu/karmic-testing/i386/ Overall, I'm confident that we'll have something shippable for Karmic, thanks to Jordan who got the seeds done just in time despite having to move state, settle into a new job, etc. Thanks a lot Jordan! I see on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KarmicReleaseSchedule that artwork freeze is on the 22nd. Perhaps we might even be able to squeeze in a usplash theme by then? -Jonathan -- edubuntu-devel mailing list [email protected] Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/edubuntu-devel
