I finally have my user accounts the way I would like them, and have figured out a good way to copy and restore user settings upon reboot thanks to this thread: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=3430354
I set up new users, so the accounts that I copied for restoration would be clean. Now when I boot the clients all of the drives... floppy drives, hard drives etc. are showing on the desktop.
