Howdy,
Reading the k12ltsp list's thread it looks like Novell is one of the companies getting involved. Then again - all I know about everything I learned on the internet :-)
From an email that included Mike Huffman's post to the Indiana Tech Coordinators mailing list
... Preliminary program design requirements consider deployment in all Indiana HS language arts classes as a first step.
https://www.redhat.com/archives/k12osn/2005-May/msg00507.html
All I learned about marketing to education I learned here and it seems to me that if all the Indiana HS language arts classes are going to have computers that probably have OpenOffice.org/StarOffice we should start the marketing. That would include getting the word out on how to get a copy - from the local library perhaps and how to switch the hundreds of PCs that have Microsoft Office - perhaps there is a book and where to find lessons and clip art and ... well I defer to those that are closer to the opportunity.
Makes me consider moving back to Indiana...

Hi Paul,
The 1:1 computer I have runs Linspire OS and has StarOffice 7 installed on
it. It uses the CNR (Click N Run) website to download updates, applications,
etc. You are welcome to come here and preview it any time. Just give me a
call!

Hello Sheila,
I'm trying to learn more about the 1:1 computer ratio program. I read an article on eSchool News: http://www.eschoolnews.com/news/showStoryts.cfm?ArticleID=5660&page=1
Spicifically, the article mentioned open source software. I'm trying to find
our which software you are using on these computers. Linux?
OpenOffice? ???
I would appreciate any information you can share with me.
Thanks,
Paul Nelson K12LTSP.org
