Hopefully you will be pleased to know that I pushed free software at the recent ICT Diploma 14-19 development conference in London. I also mentioned the free software survey with Becta that I was involved with.
Not sure how well it went down with Microsoft representative ;-) but certainly you could have heard a pin drop in the hall when I had finished speaking. The drive behind ICT Diploma is supposed to be that we are not providing pupils with skills needed for the work place. I was most disturbed that some of these skills were perceived as Cisco engineer, MS certified and Oracle certified. Vodaphone representative on the panel said I had a valid point and the headteacher on the panel couldn't stop nodding whilst I was waxing lyrical about the outrageous software prices involved.
