13 October 2022, 09:30 to 16:00
Strand Campus, London
Recalibrating Global Justice Philosophy

The Independent Resource Group for Global Health Justice (IRG-GHJ) jointly
with the YTL Centre for Politics, Philosophy and Law at King’s College
London is organizing a conference bringing to the forefront philosophical
and pressing global policy issues that can help recalibrate global justice
philosophy to be more relevant, legitimate, and useful.
Senior philosophers and policy makers will present on issues of racism,
sex/sexuality, and philosophical methodologies, and a final keynote will be
delivered by Dr Ayoade Olatunbosun-Alakija, the World Health Organisation
Special Envoy for the Access to COVID-19 Tools Accelerator
(ACT-Accelerator), and a Co-Chair of the Africa Union Africa Vaccine
Delivery Alliance for COVID-19, Nigeria.

Doctoral students and post-docs: call for presentations
On Thursday, October 13, we would like to invite doctoral students and
post-doc researchers to present their current work on global justice. We
welcome submissions from students and early career scholars working on
topics related to the themes of the conference (See programme here). Please
aim at a 20 minutes presentation of your research topic(s), which will be
followed by a discussion with the audience and invited conference speakers,
and members of host organisations.
We aim at creating a space to discuss the issues related to global justice
(in health or otherwise) among junior scholars and academics from various
subdomains of philosophy, or philosophy informed research. This day will
not be recorded, but we will invite the young scholars to consider
submitting versions of their research works for publication in a journal
collection. The papers will go through the standard peer review process.
While in person is preferred, students are welcome to present online. We
particularly welcome students from the Global South who are working on
global justice philosophy. Unfortunately, we cannot provide support for
travel or accommodation.

Submission details for the presentations: The submission deadline is
Sunday, 1st of October 2022
Please send your proposals – the title of your PhD or a few lines
presenting the topic you would like to discuss – to Sridhar Venkatapuram at
sridhar.venkatapu...@kcl.ac.uk

About the organisers
Since 2020, the Independent Resource Group for Global Health Justice
(IRG-GHJ), founded by Sridhar Venkatapuram, Associate Professor of Global
Health & Philosophy at King’s College London, was trying to take a
different perspective on the global health justice and injustices, which
were made blatant in the context of the Covdi19 pandemics. These
discussions lead us to conclude the need to think again not only the issues
of global health justice, but, more generally, the issue of global justice
itself, with new methods, yet to elaborate.

Jointly sponsored by the YTL Centre for Politics, Philosophy and
Law & International Resource Group for Global Health Justice (IRG-GHJ).
