The next Open edX release will be called Hawthorn. We don't have firm
dates, but we expect to be able to create the master branches the week
after next. Typically, finishing up the release take six weeks from that
point.

I won't try to list the features coming in Hawthorn (see previous product
announcements <https://open.edx.org/announcements> for that), but there are
a few new things in Hawthorn that might affect the release process. First,
we will not be supporting Vagrant any more. Devstack will be based on
Docker. Second, we will be examining release automation possibilities this
time around, and may do some discovery work related to that.

If you have concerns about what is in Hawthorn, or pull requests in flight
that should land before Hawthorn, see the Hawthorn wiki page
<https://openedx.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/COMM/pages/158045104/Hawthorn>.

Thanks,

--Ned.
