EAS New Horizons Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Award
The Division of Engineering and Applied Sciences seeks nominations to recognize
and honor individuals within the EAS community who have actively contributed to
EAS’s goal to be a diverse, equitable, and inclusive engineering community.
The award is available to members of the EAS community, including current
students, postdoctoral scholars, staff, and faculty.
Nominations are accepted from anyone in the EAS community, EAS alumni and
members of the Caltech community.

To nominate an individual or group, please submit a letter of nomination (up to
1 page in length); multiple letters can be submitted in support of one
nomination. In the nomination letter, please outline the contributions made by
the individual or group and any impact that those activities have had on the
community. Below are examples of potential contributions.

  * Leadership of a student group or club that supports members from
Caltech’s diverse communities.
  * Development of equity and inclusion resources that support campus
activities.
  * Advocacy and community organizing to support changes in structures or
programs on campus.
  * Active engagement in engineering outreach to local schools or communities.

The EAS Division anticipates making several awards that recognize efforts by
students, staff, postdoctoral scholars, and faculty members. The award will
come with a cash prize and certificate, recognition on the EAS website and
opportunities to interact with EAS stakeholders, such as members of the EAS
Division Chair’s Councils. The award selection will be done by representatives
from the EAS Committee on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and the EAS
leadership.

The deadline for 2021 nominations is Wednesday, May 19. Please send nominations
to [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>. If you have questions,
please contact Melany Hunt at [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>.
