This year I will be chairing our EE search, which will focus in the area of
`systems'. Victoria Kostina, Azita Emami, Venkat Chandrasekaran, Shuki
Bruck and Stefen Low have agreed to serve on the committee.

We are planning to update you from time to time on our progress and we will
always be grateful for suggestions and encouragement.

Faculty Position in Electrical Engineering

California Institute of Technology

The Division of Engineering and Applied Science of the California Institute
of Technology (Caltech) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty
position in Electrical Engineering (EE). Caltech’s faculty  represent the
full range of disciplines in science, engineering, and the social sciences
and are dedicated to addressing fundamental scientific and engineering
questions and pressing societal challenges.

We are seeking candidates in the broad area of intelligent information
systems, including decision systems, systems for science, distributed
information processing, sensory systems (such as speech and vision), signal
processing, data science, control, robotics,  artificial intelligence, and
human-in-the-loop systems. Fundamental research, as well as applied
research that links to activities in other parts of Caltech are welcome.
Candidates who are motivated by societal challenges such as climate change,
conservation of nature, sustainability, smart infrastructure, health and
health care, space and exploration, science, and education are encouraged
to apply.  Applications from candidates belonging to underrepresented
groups are especially welcome.

Demonstrated ability to carry out world-class research, as well as a
commitment to high-quality teaching and mentoring, are expected. The
appointment as an assistant professor is contingent upon the completion of
a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering or related areas. The initial
appointment at the assistant professor level is four years.  Reappointment
beyond the initial term is contingent upon successful review conducted
prior to the commencement of the fourth year.
