Turns out it's fairly simple: $ cat ./bg_printenv [...] # The bg_setenv program cannot be directly executed until all the libtool # libraries that it depends on are installed. # # This wrapper script should never be moved out of the build directory. # If it is, it will not operate correctly. Indeed, running bg_printenv results in argv[0] being /home/.../.libs/lt-bg_setenv and so the argv[0] detection mechanism does not work.
