Here is a cut and paste from another news group, it doesn't specify the PERC i controller but could provide a hint if you are having problems. Bugs item #1478464, was opened at 2006-04-28 17:14 Message generated for change (Comment added) made by vallazza You can respond by visiting: https://sourcefo rge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=725139&aid=1478464 &group_id=132104 Please note that this message will contain a full copy of the comment thread, including the initial issue submission, for this request, not just the latest update. Category: Installer Group: None Status: Closed Resolution: Fixed Priority: 5 Submitted By: Matthew Geiger (macgeiger) Assigned to: Raphael Vallazza (vallazza) Summary: initrd not remade with needed disk drivers Initial Comment: Using EFW1.1rc8 on a Dell PowerEdge 1850 with PERC SCSI RAID controller. The installer recognizes and loads the needed megaraid modules to access the RAID device, but the initrd installed on disk doesn't include these modules. As a result, EFW kernel panics on boot because it can't find the device. The solution was to rebuild the initrd with mkinitrd at the end of the installation process. I didn't need to feed mkinitrd any non-standard arguments; mkinitrd picked up the megaraid module dependency correctly and built the appropriate initrd image. This suggests that the installer is somehow flubbing the mkinitrd step. EFW now boots fine and is working well otherwise. Many thanks for your effort on this. ------------------------------------------------------------ ---------- >Comment By: Raphael Vallazza (vallazza) Date: 2006-06-18 10:07 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=50783 efw2 re-creates the initrd images after installation, so this problem has been solved. Thanks for the report. ------------------------------------------------------------ ---------- Comment By: Raphael Lechner (xedo) Date: 2006-06-13 11:19 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=202863 This problem is fixed in the next relase.
