The dns proxy has never slowed down connections that Ive seen. And its necessary to have running for some features. Nor does the content filter slow things.Avoid cheap ethernet cards that have small buffer space like RTL-8139's or onboard ethernet like SIS based chipsets. They can throttle a connection quite a bit if the buffers saturate. Also make sure that your connections didn't mismatch on auto negotiation or go to half-duplex.Your PC should be fast enough, although that may depend on how many users you have. 1.2GHz is fairly old, however. But maybe you have some other hardware issue – a conflict, driver problem, bad cable, or bad switch port, or even a bad ethernet card.
