hi James
What you describe here (4 vmware images) can be replaced completely with
one Endian Hotspot, which is a captive portal on BLUE and let users pass
only if they are authenticated.
Authentication works through radius and allows you to let users authenticate
by username/password or by mac address. You can assign several pre-paid
and/or
post-paid tickets to each user which then decide how long the user is
authenticated. This way you can account the user and make them pay before or
afterwards.
Allowing to some sites for free without authentication is also possible.
However, the hotspot functionality is available only with enterprise
appliances.
If you are interested into, please write to [EMAIL PROTECTED], they will
tell you
everything.

ntop is not meant to do montly traffic reports. You can have monthly traffic
reports under Statistics > network statistics.
Ntop simply creates statistics starting from that time you enabled it
and leaves
the data in memory only.
Simply replace br0 in /etc/init.d/ntop with br0,br1,br2 in order to have
it listening
on each zone

outgoing firewall does not block connections from the proxy. You need to
use the
access lists within the proxy.

Its a csv style file in /var/efw/outgoing/config

There is neobiker's wiki (in german) how to have it run as a xenU:

It's working also with vmware and parallels.
