For now, let's call it a big "Maybe."

This box is running on the Via Eden CPU, which is a x86 processor, but I've
known that _sometimes_ there are some issues with Linux on the Eden. Perhaps
all these issues have been worked out, I know none of the details of this.
Somebody on this list could confirm that Endian works on an Eden?

2nd, the specs list a built in flash drive and a space for a 2.5" Hard drive.
Either way, as long as you meet the HD requirements of Endian, you should be
okay with this. I wasn't able to find a hardware requirement for Endian
Community, but the commercial software lists a 4GB hard drive requirement. (I
would do 8GB, so it would be ready for future, larger versions of Endian.)

Last, this box only lists a single ethernet NIC. (Although it appears that
there may be an option for a 2nd NIC.) I beleive that Endian requires at least
2 NICs. It may be possible to split a single NIC with VLANS and a VLAN capable
switch, but I doubt it. I'm thinking that Endian relies on at least one
interface be for WAN, and another interface be for anything/everything else.
Now, if you can get that second NIC, or if there are any working USB NICs which
you can use... then it becomes a possibility.

Could there be other hurdles? Sure... but that's all of the ones I can think of
for right now...

Also you should consider what this box is intended for: A Thin Client. As such,
it probably doesn't have all that great of processing power. I wouldn't want to
use such a box to be a firewall for more than 10-15 computers.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Download Intel® Parallel Studio Eval
Try the new software tools for yourself. Speed compiling, find bugs
proactively, and fine-tune applications for parallel performance.
See why Intel Parallel Studio got high marks during beta.
