We are currently redesigning Jonas as such. At the same time, this design aims at providing Jonas as a multi-container framework, allowing people to define and integrate their own container implementation within Jonas. In this respect, the notion of container needs to be clarified and probably made visible in the EJB programming model (for example at the naming level with a hierarchical approach). We expect to have a first version of such a personality by the end of June. The ObjectWeb group is also working on an architecture whitepaper which will describe our vision of a flexible component-based architecture of object-oriented middleware systems.
