I don't think it is very helpful to discuss this in terms of deleting
computery things such as objects or files. Of course we computery people
can understand what these mean to the computer because we've defined them
in terms of the computer.

What is at issue is how to reflect real-world semantics into the database
and garbage collection is irrelevant in reflecting the real world simply
because the real world does not have a garbage collector that behaves in
anything like the same way.

I believe we should leave garbage collection to the highly useful role it
was designed for  - simplifying programs.
