I think just the opposite. EJB is less about business component re-use, which we recently trashed here. EJB is indeed about application servers. Specifically, EJB allows me to write a middleware app and market it to enterprises regardless of their entrenched application server (providing it serves EJB). EJB doesn't give component re-use so much as EJB gives server neutrality/portability. Most commercial EJBean development is probably of EJB applications, not pieces.
