My $0.02... It's a batch file written in Visual Basic Script; most likely it was a script file to be designed for use with the Windows Scripting Host. Even if it wasn't a virus, it probably falls under the same safety considerations for VBA macros: written in the proper fashion, these things can become annoying if run on a Windows 9X/NT platform. :-) Suffice it to say, I'm not surprised it was spotted by a virus checker; most virus checkers will bring any embedded macros to your attention, and will give you the option of disabling them (in fact, Word will do this if you set the proper options, sans virus checker).
