<vendor>

Iona's iPortal Application Server was built from the ground up to
support distributed transactions (across multiple VMs) using multiple
XADataSources through JDBC2.0 drivers which implement the XA
extensions. Merant's Sequelink 5 JDBC 2.0 drivers are shipped with our
server but you should be able to use any other JDBC 2.0 compliant JDBC
driver which implements the XA extensions - they are registered with the
server through JNDI, as per the EJB 1.1 specification. Of course, if
you've only got a single resource then you can use normal JDBC 2.0
Datasources.
Also, calls from EJBs inside the iPortal Application Server to CORBA
servers will propagate the IIOP (CORBA OTS) transaction context on the
wire so CORBA servers can also participate in the same transactions.
