I kinda had a feeling I was going to get that response.

The problem is, I need to go back and present to management et al why we
need to take the time to redo what has already been done.
Can you tell me why you responded as you did, or where I could find
documentation in support of your position, or, failing that, where I could
find a copy of your credentials so I could at least say to the Powers That
Be, CHIP WILSON, whose fabulous credentials are _these_ (handout distributed
at this point) says....

I really am very grateful for your advice! I just need help in convincing
people around here that we're right.

I cannot think of a word to describe how bad this idea is.  It will not
work.  The person who did this did not understand EJB.
