I should use Sockets.... and that's what I do!

Why would you not?
There is no support for Events, that is, you can't push information into the
EJB's clients
so, the client would have poll the Server in intervals
nothing wrong 'bout it, IMHO, but that's the path taken in that discussion.
However, MessageBeans should provide an easy way of making such thing as a
chat app...
But, then again, using EJBs to make a chat app, still sounds like killing a
chicken with a Nuke Bomb... excessive

Reading through the archives, it appears that the prevailing opinion is that
EJBs are not suitable for a web-based chat application. Seeing as I have
been asked to look into the possibility of EJB-izing an existing one, this
is particularily relevant to me.
So my question is, why would you say that EJBs are not suitable? What WOULD
they be good for in a chat application?
