IBM defines a nice MVC-to-EJB architecture in the "WebSphere Programming
Model Extensions" document (
http://www-4.ibm.com/software/webservers/appserv/doc/v35/ae/infocenter/was/atswpgpm.htm
). Their Command Package uses Command Targets for interactions between
beans and EJBs. Definitely worth a read.
