I am not affiliated at all, just a delighted customer,
but Karmira BugSeeker is the best debugger I have ever
used. www. karmira.com
It does use the new Sun debugging API but I have
successfully implemented with WebLogic and Netscape
WebServer Servlet engine.
As far as automation goes, for build and deploy
operations I have had great success with Jakarta-Ant
which you can get from Apache. It is like Make, but it
uses Java and XML. It has built in support for EJB
construction, file tag substitution, SourceSafe and a
variety of other useful functions.
