We recently used it in a proof of concept project, so
it was not really exposed to any stress, but here's my
summary:
1. It really works. I was floored when we were able to
make a session bean running on iPlanet on Solaris
invoke a method on a COM object on an NT box using
DCOM. It is all pure java too, no funny stuff.
2. It is very well documented. It was a snap to get
all sorts of Java-->COM examples working on NT as well
as Unix.
3. It appears that support is available only through
news-server.
In conclusion, I cannot address either of the issues
you asked about, but I was impressed with what we were
able to do.
